United Airlines will
participate |
Boston, MA: In a
shocking departure from traditional compensation
practices, the Boston Consulting Group will be offering
frequent flyer miles to its summer consultants, in lieu
of cash.
The Tuck Profit spoke with loyal Tuck alum and BCG'er
Craig della Penna. "Most consultants that choose
business school are plagued by one major drawback with
their decision: the loss of status on their airline of
choice. Our revolutionary human resources
department has solved that problem."
The Tuck Profit conducted a thorough analysis of
students at top schools to determine whether loss of
status was a factor in choosing business school.
The results surprised us. 87% of former
consultants at top MBA programs were "distraught" over
being downgraded by their airline of choice, and 46% had
attempted suicide "1 to 3 times."

| So will Continental |
BCG is offering its
consultants 500,000 miles on Continental, United,
Northwest or American Airlines. Through a special
deal with these carriers, the miles will be equivalent
to those earned on flights, which will allow each
consultant to instantly advance to the highest level of
status.
Said BCG'er Tony Portera T'07, "My wife thinks I'm a
rockstar because of my platinum status on Continental.
We get upgraded almost every time."
Patent applications have been filed with the United
States patent office. BCG is seeking protection of
both the concept of frequent flyer compensation and the
rigorous framework used to evaluate the concept.
Initial drafts of the applications were obtained by the
Tuck Profit; they appear to contain several 2-way
matrices and animal clipart.
