Girl Friday
A Day In The Life with Greta Herbert TP'07
Marketing Coordinator, Tuck Admissions

5:30 a.m. Wake up and begin to form a plan in my mind on how to keep the Tuck School of Business from falling apart at the seams, at least until Chris graduates.

6:45 a.m.
Arrive at school.  Wake up a passed-out Jeff Capone on the steps of Tuck Hall.  Unlock the front doors.

8:00 a.m. Print visitor pass for car so my lazy-ass husband can park in Tuck Circle.

8:30 a.m. Intimidate some April Round applicants by cluing them in to Ben Flaim’s infamous interview demeanor.

9:00 a.m. Phone interview with the FT (I’ve got a direct forward on Kiki’s line). Obtain solid guarantee that we’ll come out on top next year.

9:30 a.m. Customary coffee chat with Dean Danos; we’re bringing in Dean Pyke for some assistance with Lubrano’s 5-year operating plan. When we let him run with this unhindered last time, we ended up with the suboptimal “layout” of the Byrne short-order grill line.

10:20 p.m. Sub-in for the GEM instructor (again). Granted, all the TPs in the program office are paid more than the profs teaching the core, but do we really have to cover for them every time they feign a PMS-induced migraine?

12:30 p.m. Amy Mitson and I head out for a long lunch at the River Valley Club, followed by pedicures at Makin’ Waves. (Sally got us gift certificates for Christmas). We’re all looking forward to Errik Anderson buying the salon so we can negotiate a Tuck-wide discount.

2:00 p.m. Identify 3 potential tenure-track professors to attract to Tuck. Some of them even have experience teaching Corp Fin. Excited about the prospect of 2nd year students entering Prof Sundaram’s class with some prerequisite knowledge.

2:30 p.m. Ask Betsy to ‘be a darling’ and pick up my dry cleaning.

3:30 p.m. Book 3 months at the Hanover Inn for visiting Prof Verona’s tailor.

4:00 p.m. Establish endowment fund to ensure the Tankersley succession plan for COO position.

4:30 p.m. Cocktails with Andy Steele and John Bello T'74 to raise funds for the new building. We wrap up the day with Bello committing $370M.

7:00 p.m. Ring hubby to make sure he’s got dinner on the burner for me. People say that in the afterlife, they want to come back as a Tuck Partner. Honey, I’m livin’ the dream today...
